Zheng Yong is the Chief Architect of China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., a Chief Master at China State Construction Group, and the head of the Zheng Yong Studio at the Southwest Institute. He has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Expert Enjoying Special Government Allowance from the State Council, Sichuan Provincial Engineering Design Master, and Sichuan Provincial Academic Leader. He also serves as an external graduate advisor for several leading universities, such as Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Chongqing University, and Southeast University.
For over three decades, Zheng Yong has dedicated himself to the architectural heritage of western China, leading his team in the meticulous surveying and documentation of traditional western architecture, resulting in the creation of a valuable database. By integrating practice with theory, he developed the ”Chuanpai Yingjian” (Sichuan School of Construction) design philosophy. His notable works include the Sichuan Grand Theater, Sichuan Celebrity Museum, Chengdu Gran Meliá Hotel, Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Risaguli, China Overseas Tianfu Center, and Yibin Center. Zheng Yong’s projects have garnered over 110 awards at the international, national, and provincial levels, including the Bronze Award for National Excellent Engineering Design, the Industry Excellent Architectural Design Award from the China Exploration and Design Association, the World Architects Congress Award, the American Architecture MasterPrize, and the ARCASIA Awards for Architecture.
